Youth Lead Clean-Up Drive in Oko

Youth Lead Clean-Up Drive in Oko

In a spirited display of environmental consciousness and community service, the youth of Oko came together this past weekend for a clean-up campaign aimed at restoring cleanliness and beauty to public spaces.

The event, organized by Umunwanne Age Grade, took place on 24th March 2025 and attracted over 30 volunteers, including students, local leaders, and residents. Equipped with gloves, trash bags, and plenty of enthusiasm, the participants cleaned streets, parks, and market areas, collecting over 50 kg of waste.

Why It Matters

Clean environments contribute to better public health, reduced pollution, and increased community pride. The campaign not only addressed littering problems but also educated residents about proper waste disposal and recycling.

Speaking at the event, Mr Emma emphasized the importance of youth involvement in community development, stating, “We are the future, and it’s our duty to protect our environment today.”
